For this run I used the route description that Ben Nephew first did by starting at the Shae skating rink. On my first out and back I took skyline south on the way out, and North on the the return. As proposed by the original double out and back FKT, I switched to North on the out, and South on the back for my second out and back. I used the random guardrail/parking lot as the turn around spot on the west end of the traverse each time.
My first out and back went great! I was feeling good and came in at 2:58 and change, then was back for the second within a few minutes after resupplying my nutrition and fluids. The second out and back was super tough! The amount of elevation mixed with rocks everywhere started wearing me down. I found a solid groove that was just a bit slower than the first out and back, and was able to grind it out pretty solid to the finish! Overall I really enjoyed this route and the traverse 4 times throughout is interesting because each one feels different from the last.
