I decided to run this loop after it was suggested by a friend as a relatively flat route for a 6 hour run I had planned for today (08/30). My initial plan was not to run it fast or attempt an FKT, but as the run began and I got warmed up, it became apparent that my legs were feeling pretty good, so I decided to go for it! I finished one loop and surprisingly still felt really good so I kept pushing. I carried all of my nutrition with me and refilled my water flasks at the available water fountains along the route.
There was trail construction going on along the Custis trail, so I had to follow a detour along one road to meet back up with the W&OD. Hopefully this will not affect the validity of my FKT attempt.
