I was trying to figure out which trail I wanted to run in Yosemite Valley that day and I had never done Cloud's Rest from the valley so I wanted to give it a go. I felt good on the whole climb up until the last couple hundred feet to the top when I started feeling the altitude. Temps were perfect and there was some snow at the summit but none on the trail that interfered with the run. I brought 4 Spring Energy gels and two 500 ml soft flasks but should've brought three as the last place to fill up is at the Merced River in LYV, still about 5 miles and 3,500 ft from the summit.
This was an absolutely beautiful and challenging run on a trail that absolutely toasts your hammies on the way up and shreds your quads on the way down! I didn't see a single person after reaching the top of Nevada Falls the rest of the way to the top of Cloud's Rest and enjoyed the summit and 360 views of the snow-capped Sierras all to myself!
