The Bluff Mountain parking lot does not have any signage but It's clear where the trail begins at the edge of the parking lot so that is where I started my watch.
The trail to SilverStar was a bit more technical—and more scenic— than I remembered. I hiked most of it.
From the top of Silver Star to the tarbell trail is runnable but loose rocks make footing a bit unsteady. Once you reach Tarbell trail, it's beautiful singletrack all the way to Bells mountain. Bells mountain meets the river trail where it's a well maintained and runnable for the two miles back to Hantwick parking lot.
There were plenty of spots for water but unfortunately I left my filter at home. Fortunately, I noticed before I left my truck so I topped everything off and 3L got me through—although I did run out with 5ish miles to go.
I took it pretty easy on this run so I'm sure someone can shave an hour or two off this FKT. Best of luck!
