Started at Big Eddy about 6:25am. There was rain the night before so there was a lot of water on everything. The trail is a bit overgrown in some places with 5' high plants. Withing 5 miles I was soaked to my chest. Socks and shoes were squishy.
The trail is clear, easy to follow and beautiful. I really enjoy the variety between N facing slopes and S facing slopes!
I'd scouted the trail last summer and really wanted to get it done a bit quicker. I was prepared and ran completely out of my Salomon pack and flasks.
Went a bit easier on the way North to ensure I had gas to get back South. With all the water on the vegetation I was not only wet, but plenty cool. Only after turning back south at the state park sign did the sun really start to peak through the trees a bit. The pictures don't begin to capture the beauty of this trail.
I was hoping to get it in 3 hours total, but it just didn't happen. Probably too much stopping to take pictures.
