Started at South Mesa TH at 5:40AM. (Mad respect for the three other cars in the parking lot which must have been there long before me!)
Punchy climbs and dancy, technical descents up and down the peaks, with lots of flowy, nontechnical trail in between to open up your stride and glide! GPS is a MUST -- it is very easy to get off-route, especially near Flagstaff. Sweeping views of the mountains to the west, city of Boulder to the east. Intermittent, pleasant snow flurries throughout the run. This out/back is a challenge, but the rewards are plenty!
Can't wait to see other people ROCK this route!
- Water: refilled at a bathroom sink in Eben G Fine Park...the water fountain was shut off!
- Food: carried with me for the entirety of the run
- Support: ran with my friend, Cristin Downey, for ~1.5 miles from Eben G Fine Park and up part of Sanitas
