I completed the Mansfield to Camel's Hump route. I dropped my car at the Monroe trailhead and biked home to Stowe Friday night. Saturday morning I biked to the Barnes Camp visitor center, left my bike on the side of the road (with a sticky note saying please don’t steal me and my estimated pick up time), and started up the long trail south towards Camel's Hump.
It had been a rainy few days and was a relatively chilly start in the 40s, the rocks coming down the back side of Mansfield were slick. It was a beautiful sunny day to be outside and relatively uneventful. I saw minimal people until I got to Camel’s Hump in the afternoon.
I started with 1.5 liters of water and a sawyer squeeze which I forgot the bag for. I used fold and close sandwich bags to hold water and used the sawyer squeeze as a straw, this was difficult and time consuming. I did this several times and eventually filled up my 1.5 liter bladder with stream water on Camels Hump. I carried a PB&J, a XXXL baked potato, a quesadilla, peanut M&Ms, gummies, Untapped, BASE salts, and had minimal left overs by the end.
Looking forward to completing the route again 2023 and seeing who else gives it a run!
