This route has been on the bucket list for several years. I have run all portions of it independently but never the whole loop. I Seadood to Christian beach from my home and beached there. There are some picnic tables and a gazebo and outhouse bathrooms present here. From this spot there is also a short trail directly across the island to Cedar Springs Campground with full amenities including drinking water during summer season. I packed up my gear and started northbound. 1 L of H2O in my backpack and a Cliff bar.
My shoes were almost immediately soaked through as it had rained hard the day before and some of the trails are muddy and boggy. Still good traction on the roots and rocks in the northern trails. At most major intersections there are trail markers. All Trails are well worked in and clearly visible.
The northern trails have trail markers between bare rocky sections some of which are difficult to see but the trail is always nearby.
Southbound I chose Treasure trail since it runs along the water making for a more complete and interesting route.
Its a hidden gem in Ontario!
Enjoy,
Les
