I began in Barra de Pacuare with a swim in the Caribbean and short walk along the beach. I took a boat to Muelle Goshen (there are no roads or trails and swimming is forbidden) where I started running at approximately 1:30pm on Thursday.

My overnight stops were: Brisas de Pacuarito, Pejibaye, Palo Verde and Naranjillo.

On day 2, I met up with a local guide for the section through indigenous territory, as required by law.

I ran alone except where indigenous guide is required and carried all my own gear in a 15 liter BD distance pack with BD carbon trekking poles. I had 3 liters of water storage.

I stayed with local families along the route and stopped at convenience stores along the route for food and water.

I only saw one other hiker on the entire route as it is now low season. The trail is quite well marked, with a handful of exceptions.

May is the beginning of rainy season, so sunburn and dehydration were less of an issue (although still very possible), but lots of mud and humidity in the route.

I began my final approach to Quepos at 3am on Monday, arriving a bit before 9:30.

Thank you all, I highly recommend this trail.

Best,

Liam
