This was an unsupported run of the full Skye Trail from the north to the south. I started at 6.44am on 2/07/2026 from the Shulista phonebox and finished in Broadford on the morning of 3/07/2026 close to 8am. My friend Justyna kindly dropped me at the start and waved goodbye, and then I ran solo.

I had a wild and wonderful time on a challenging trail. I carried all of my own food, litter, and kit and used Salomon filter bottles to re-fill my water from various beautiful waterfalls along the trail.

I found the route really difficult to find and to navigate at times, and spent lots of time making sure I was on the right track. The gpx frequently took me off the main paths and across very slow terrain. I made every effort to stay on it safely (at some points, it didn't feel very safe!). My distance ended up being longer than the gpx file (131.44km run, when the file was 127.04km) due to navigation struggles, but it was worth persevering to finish a stunning trail.

Skye is really beautiful and although it was very windy at times, there was also lots of sunshine. My favourite views were the river and bridge around Sligachan campsite with the hills in the distance. The coastline around Elgol was magical at night with crashing waves on the beach and small lights in the distance, even though the path was a real struggle at that point. The night hours weren't too long as it was a summertime run, which was good as sleep deprivation was particularly difficult towards the end around Torrin as the sun was coming up.

Finishing on a quiet sunny morning in Broadford right by my car was perfect. It was my first FKT effort and I would love to do it again!

I took lots of photos but this website won't accept them in any format, size or compression. But it wasn't a dream!
