Description

The Skye Trail covers 128 km of tough terrain including spectacular mountain and coastal scenery on the Isle of Skye. It follows much of the celebrated Trotternish Ridge and also passes under the very shadow of the jagged Cuillin, the finest mountains in Britain. There are remarkable but almost unvisited coastal cliffs, steep trails above high drops, and the haunting ruins of deserted villages destroyed in the Highland Clearances.

I just finished hiking the whole Skye Trail and since I'm here for a few more days I thought I'll give the FKT a go! Plan is to start at the North in the morning (9/15). Looking to establish a Male's Unsupported Time. You can follow along on my Instagram hunter_leininger

Run started on Sunday 06:32am, finished just after midnight. Generally very good weather for running, but conditions under foot were really bad. I ran from the North to the South, solo but with road support and drone operator for filming. Run finished in 17h49min20s.

Advise to whoever will have another go- the gpx file is not correct in many places, it wades off from main paths and brings you to pretty sketchy places (it's definitely a file fault). Some of the paths from the gpx file are also closed due to the erosion.
