Medicine Lake is a gem, and this is an excellent training run with views of the lake nearly the entire way. I ran solo with no stops. I started and ended at the French Regional Park Visitor Center sign (pictured) right across the road from a giant playground, a parking lot, and said visitor center. I ran clockwise around the lake. I banked some time on the first three miles, knowing that the hills on the west side of the lake are no joke. There were plenty of walkers, bikers, scooters, and dogs out on the path and tons of boats on the lake as it was a beautiful Sunday evening. It was a bit warm, 84 degrees F, with not great air quality due to wildfire smoke, but neither of those affected me much. I didn't carry any fuel or water but was grateful I had Gatorade waiting for me in my car afterward.
Note that there are two existing Strava segments for loops around Medicine Lake: "Medicine (from the top)" coming in at 7.62 miles and "Medicine Lake Loop (East Medicine Lake Park)" coming in at 7.74 miles. Of course, we don't know whether these efforts were unsupported, self-supported, or supported, but it would be more accurate to describe this route as the "Medicine Lake: French Regional Park Visitor Center Loop." I highly recommend others tackle this challenging and scenic route!
