Note: This run was the "All Trails +2" variation of the original Catalina State Park "All Trails" FKT route
Another beautiful day in Catalina State Park!
With the addition of 2 official trails to the park map, I was excited to go see them. I had been on the lower part of CDO trail but not Alamo Canyon. Both have excellent views and are totally worth exploring. Signage is quite good on both and I had to refer to my map only once in Alamo Canyon.
I took it easier than in previous efforts, knowing that there are two additional climbs in this variation. That, plus learning new trails, and for sure there is room to lower my time.
I stashed water at the lower junction of CDO and 50-year trails, making this effort self-supported. I discovered a new bathroom with a water fountain near the Bridle Trail on the way to Alamo Canyon, which might reduce the desire for a water stash.
Thank you to the Fastest Known Times organization for the inspiration to do interesting things for no apparent reason!
