Our higher altitude acclimation is slowly improving, starting with half of the John Cappis peak bagging event last weekend. Which surprisingly also turned out to be a "scouting mission" for this FKT. What a beautiful area right above Silverton, fun route with a few rocks and great views.
John and I enjoyed tramping around in the hills again, listening to elk bugling way below us, pikas squeaking all around us, and a marmot and a chipmunk for good measure. Summer flowers are blooming. Excellent time to be up there.
I tried to push the pace on the uphills, while still being careful on some of the slicker downhills. John had no trouble keeping up in either case. He suggested we could beat 2.5 hours to the turn-around and we just made it. Then he thought we could break 4 hours total, so we ran for it and also just made it.
Thanks for the route, another reason to roam around in the mountains!
