I've been wanting to do this route all year, and with snow in the forecast for tomorrow, today was the day. Little did I realize that there would also be snow today! Ran through flurries for most of the first half, with snow sticking to the ground near Lac Philippe. So beautiful, but I only stopped for one photo. Only saw one other person until I got to the 36.
Navigated some wet leaves and mud on the 36 and the 32. But I'll take that over summer heat any time! After the climb up to the 1, I enjoyed the big downhill to the 15. The 15 had some more leafy bits, and the punchy little climbs that I always underestimate, but once I got over the last climb near Pink Lake it was smooth sailing to the finish.
Carried 3 flasks with scratch, and plenty of gels/xact bars. Needed to slow down a bit to settle my stomach to get in gels in the second half, but fuelling worked well to give me plenty of energy to the finish. Hot hands also came in clutch to keep my fingers working.
