On July 20th, 2025 Nicole Leger and I (Mark Hemmings) attempted the Mixed Gender Team FKT for the Fundy Circuit. The Fundy Circuit can be described as a loop that almost tracks with the outer perimeter of Fundy National Park, in New Brunswick, Canada. Our attempt was run clockwise, starting and ending at the Headquarters building. We started our run at 6:38am to hopefully end the run prior to the afternoon rain showers that were forecasted. It was a mostly overcast day and about 14 to 19 degrees celsius, and very humid. The water was really low so it was possible to stay dry at all river and stream crossings by skipping on rocks and boulders. We always had enough streams and creeks however to fill up two 500ml Salomon XA filtered flasks. We packed 8 hours worth of nutrition in our vests. Highlights were a very large moose that ran past us on the trail, seeing unexpected friends hiking on the trail, and a cool headwind on the last 1/3 of the trail coming from the Bay of Fundy. The actual distance of the Circuit is hard to assess, as Fundy National Park says that it is 50km, however our Apple Watch, Garmin Fenix’s and Garmin inReach all stated a few km’s shorter. Most likely Fundy Park counts some non-Circuit side trails such as Marven Lake which may up the km’s to 50. Our GPX file from Apple Watch states 48.31km but one of our Garmin devices was as low as just under 47km.
