Started at the AZT trailhead on FS 302 near walnut canyon and went counter-clockwise to keep most of the climbing in the first half.
I carried 2L of water, then filled up another 2.5L 16 miles in at the public campground Little Elden Springs Horse Camp (0.3 off route), then filled up 2.5L again 30 miles in at the public water fountain in Buffalo Park (0.1 off route). Also carried some quesadillas, drink mix, bars and gels.
I felt great for the first 3rd, but the next 3rd I was sluggish and ran out of water early. By the last 3rd my legs were totally pumped. Not sure how I managed to have 1.5 hours not moving but I guess it adds up. Was lucky to have a mostly overcast day with an hour or two of light rain to cool it down. I love running here in the land of endless smooth and rolling single track!
