Starting at 4.30am, fast and steep in the cool air to the gleckstein hutte using poles. No need to stop but potential for water refills here. Still in the dark over the boulder field route finding could be hard but made easier by the occassional cairn. At the foot of the glacier I switched to microspikes and axe leaving the poles behind. running in an S shape past the ice wall up to the steep spur of the glacier when I switched to all fours. Light was now showing and the summer heat creeping in. Once almost too steep I exited the glacier hopping over the bergshrund onto the wall with grade 3-4 climbing. Scrambing up until the visible rock band. fom here traversing over slippery scree and occasional rock walls with a lot of air beneath, until the willsgrat. Following up steep route finding sometimes hanging below the ridge, look out for falling rocks. After comes the saddle often snow covered and the steep final ramp up to the summit. No support and nobody else climbing the route, which is a good thing as it is known for rocks being kicked down the grat. Returning the same way with a quick pitstop in the gleckstein hutte for water. 3 hours 16 minutes to the summit.
