Most details are in the Strava report but I'll elaborate on some more things here. I chose to go supported for this, mostly to get a ride around the CT River. It's unfortunate this separation exists on the route, but for me it was the most sensible way, though props to those who have kayaked across or god forbid run the roads around. Choosing supported obviously also opened the doors for further support along the way which was nice too. I started with a little over 2L water and maybe 700 calories. I picked up caches at miles 13, 24, 34, 80, and 86 - each had 1.4L water and roughly 500 calories. Bonnie paced me from miles 51-69, Shutesbury Rd. to Bare Mountain. During that stretch her and Max were able to provide plenty of food, water and company I was happy to have. Jen gave me the ride around the CT River (mile 73) and also met me at the Westfield River crossing (mile 94) and I was able to grab extra fuel from the car on both of those occasions. The plan was to ford the Westfield River, but it was deep and muddy and very dark, so I ran the roads around instead (3.75 miles). This bit also kind of throws a wrench in the route. I should've been more familiar with the exact spot of where to start crossing. Looking on the map afterwards I was probably not in the right spot to do so, though in the moment my phone was dead, it was very dark, plus I was getting sloppy and just trying to keep moving - I wasn't in the mindset to be patient and poke around the shoreline. In retrospect, the better option after plunging in to no avail would've been getting the ride around, then running the out and back from 187 to the river. That might be the best option in general if going supported, especially in the dark, and takes away the wild card of river conditions. But oh well. Live and learn! When I first finished this I was maybe too focused on being cranky that the river crossing didn't work as planned and the last couple hours were really sloppy and not getting sub-24. But after some more time passed I'm so happy and grateful for this adventure, flaws and the unexpected and some real lows are bound to happen on a run like this.
