I ran the standard route of Emerald Mountain starting at the East Portal Trailhead sign, followed the East Portal trail, and turned north onto the social trail to the summit. I started just before sunrise. It was an overcast day with the mountain in the clouds most of the day. I did climb the final summit pyramid to the high point, not the second summit just to the west. It is worth noting for anyone considering the route that route finding can be difficult and the decent can be loose with a lot of loose rock and scree. I carried a single flask of water in a vest and had one gel just before turning off the main trail. No other humans were on the trail or mountain that morning, although I was greeted by two mule deer at the finish.
