Note to Editor: Craig Mitchley's 2023 FKT (https://fastestknowntime.com/fkt/craig-mitchley-baker-way-extended-united-kingdom-2023-08-17) should be in the out and back route variation, if that can be corrected. It was his time I went out to improve on.
I ran the route Delamere-Chester-Delamere, just because that worked better for me logistically.
I did this unsupported, carrying snacks and drinks myself. There's a cafe at Delamere station, so I treated myself to a celebratory Full English breakfast at the finish.
A varied route, starts in the forest, then through farmland, and onto the canal into Chester, touched the station building and then turned back. Weather was fine, ground conditions fairly muddy (a frost would have been easier), but not as bad as some of these fields can get in winter, so can't complain really.
