On May 24, 2021 I ran the Iron Spring Trail near Ekalaka, Montana. I started at 10:33 and ran in the clockwise direction. The first few miles are on hilly doubletrack that climbs through beautiful pine forests.
The trail then turns to the west and stays high for a couple more miles. It was in this area that I came across an angry pronghorn (shown in one of the pictures) that followed me for several hundred yards, making some high pitch sounds. I lost probably ten minutes trying to get around him. After he finally let me pass I saw two small snakes on the way back down to the starting point.
It was a beautiful day, with temps in the 70s. I ran by myself, unsupported. I consumed 8oz of water and 200 calories. I didn’t see anyone else.
