On February 26th I ran the Stone Mountain variation of the Iron Trail. This is certainly more scenic than the Iron Trail by itself. Stone Mountain is gorgeous and home to some unique plants. There was 4-6" of snow when I ran but the really challenging part was the water underneath the layer of ice that had formed under the snow. This trail is known for being muddy and much of it must have been covered in water before the snow fell, similar to when Chris ran it apparently. This trail would be best during a drought. I saw a few hikers but ran by myself, unsupported, in Microspikes.
Nice run, Matthew! You did it in the winter conditions, too! I agree - this trail should be good in the Summer during some dry weather.
