This went pretty terribly but I guess it probably is the fastest/only self-supported time. I certainly wasn't recovered from a big effort 3 weeks before and there was a 20mph wind for most of the eastern half of the island. Friday evening I took the last train to Montauk, catching a little sleep in transit, arriving around 3:15am Saturday. I caught an Uber to the lighthouse and started at 4:00am. I resupplied every 10-15 miles at gas stations with questionable snacks and electrolyte drinks. This was probably a big reason my stomach started going south around mile 70 or so. It did not get better. I had planned this before I realized I'd be finishing at the same time as the NYC marathon, paralleling part of the course. I death-marched a couple miles with a guy who was doing the marathon carrying 52lbs. I easily waited for 200-300 traffic lights and Manhattan was pretty packed with spectators for the marathon. I have a new appreciation for Oz's outstanding effort!
