Yesterday I ran the Vermont 4000 footers. I hadn't been on any of these trails before, except the top of Abraham and Mansfield from different directions, so I pretty much followed Tyler's routes. I started at 5:56:48 am from the base of Killington and finished at 2:37:58 pm on Mansfield. The day before I wasn't sure if I was coming down with a cold. By the time I finished Abraham and Ellen I was pretty sure I was but I was already about 20 minutes ahead so I figured I'd keep going and see how it went. I lost most of that time on Camel's Hump and then pushed pretty hard up Hell Brook (appropriately named) to take 11 minutes off Tyler's time. I was pretty fortunate with parking and traffic, but I'm sure having a driver drop you off at the crowded trailheads would save some time and make the transitions easier. The weather was spectacular with a gorgeous sunrise on Killington and incredible views on Mansfield of the White Mountains and the Adirondacks.
