Chris Jones and I traveled down to Mt Shasta after hearing rumors of a town to summit trail completed two weeks before by some friends from Bend. They carried skis the whole way up and down. I've dreamed of a trail route from the town of Mt Shasta to the summit for years so this was a good opportunity to run it. Little did I know that Jason Hardrath had just put the FKT up 5 days before so there was a legit route and legit time that I could now go for.
At 7:10am I started out from the corner of Rockfellow and Everitt Memorial Hwy. It's a mile on pavement and then dirt the rest of the way to the snow line. It was an epic day. Even passed Jason going for his Shasta Picnic high up on the mountain. I carried everything with me and filled up water at the Sierra Club cabin spring. I tagged the summit in 2:57 and back to town in 5:29:55.
