I needed to get out of the smoke so I drove up out of Sisters to blue skies and decided last minute to run the Three Fingered Jack loop. Since it was last minute I parked at the Round Lake trailhead instead of the normal PCT trailhead and started from there. Jogging up to Round Lake for the start of the loop. I did the loop counterclockwise, make the out-n-back jaunt out to the PCT trailhead parking lot since that's part of the FKT route then completed the rest of the loop around to Round Lake. I didn't see any restrictions on starting location so decided to submit the FKT time.
Most of the downed trees have been cut out of the east side of the loop making it a bit faster than previous attempts but starting from Round Lake also likely makes the route a bit slower since that last section was more difficult when tired. But managed a good long run and a trip around the mountain in 2:37 and got out of the smoke for a bit.
