Started at 2:25am, head torched the first several hours along the esplanade sandstone. Carried fluids with and dropped 500ml every 3 miles at miles 3,6, and 9 for the return ascent. Filtered river water at the canyon. 40F at trailhead, 100F at confluence at hottest part of day per weather reports, but luckily started my return by 8:00am or so to avoid heatstroke. Almond danish for bfast, had some gummy bears, jerky, 2 protein bars, bar of dark choc, few handfuls of cashews/pistachios/almonds during attempt. Pretty well cairned until you reach Nankoweap creek, then slow going along the stream with sand, Boulder, scree field to navigate. I also went up to the Anasazi granaries briefly but is not required for the FKT route. Filter river water to help you get out. Be safe and cautious if you attempt as the trail in parts is very exposed on the cliffs and if you get injured there is likely no cell signal in the canyon. Highly recommend starting in the dark to avoid the brutal heat in the bowels of the canyon. But incredible views and connection with geologic time, I did not see a single person on my attempt the entire day until the very last mile finishing back at the saddle mountain trailhead, a lady was enjoying her lunch.
