I bushwhacked from the community closest to the trail and popped out on the State Line trail and back tracked on the AT to the NY state line. There I composed myself in the stifling humidity and 10:15 pm I took off South Bound. I spent the first 7.5 hours in the dark. I saw a handful of deer, a raccoon and a few rabbits. The humidity lessened after a passing thunderstorm. Temps were beautiful until about 8am then the temperatures continued to rise. I stopped for water every chance I had. As my first warm run of the season it was tough to adapt on the go. The rocks were endless and it was challenging until I finally started to feel really good around 40 miles! From there I just focused on staying steady and was pleasantly surprised after pushing extra hard the last 3 hours that I got it done in under 19hours!
