Started at Pine Grove State park at 4:30 am, breezed through the first 10 miles feeling really strong. Around 12 miles in I tried to filter water and my filter was hardly trickling, so I decided to go with unfiltered water. I got moving again and felt strong entering the Cumberland Valley miles and intended to run through them, I was feeling a little fatigue around 22 miles but was able to keep my average pace below 5mph and I knew climbing out the valley I'd lose time son I kept pushing. I needed more water than I was drinking but I was hesitant to refill near the farmlands. Once I started to climb I was sucking wind and feeling really tired. The last 13 miles were significantly slower and more challenging. The climbs were longer and the rocks were nearly constant the last 8 miles. I pushed through the climbs and the rocks, refilling my bottles one more time. I ate everything in my pack and was hungry for the last 2 hours but I knew I was close. Around 40 miles I put some music on and just stayed steady until I began the treacherous descent to the Hawk Rock Parking lot. It wasn't my strongest run but I got it done on a beautiful trail day.
