On somewhat of a whim (after fires derailed my original idea) I set off to run the Beaten Path as an out and back starting at the Clark's Fork TH. My husband, Joe, ran with me and helped provided support in terms of carrying some food items, our water filter, and providing general happiness during times of crises. He ran the whole distance with me as support. We left the TH at 6am on Saturday September 5th and began our trek to East Rosebud. There are plenty of water sources along the way and we used a katadyn filter. We did not see many other runners but did encounter a many backpackers who enjoyed cheering us on and called us crazy. It was VERY hot for a large portion of the day which led to some stomach issues and generally slow miles mid day. I carried mostly gels and cliff bars and wished I had more salty food given the heat.
