I set out on my FKT attempt at about 7AM on Halloween morning. Completing the run unsupported, I carried a Salomon hydration vest with about 1.5L of water and 0.5L of coconut water, as well as some snacks and gels. Weather was ideal, a partly sunny day, mild wind, and temps in the 50s. Trails were largely in good condition aside from some puddles. I found the transition from trail to sidewalk a little tough to navigate at first, but was quickly assured by All Trails that I remained on route. As this was my first attempt at a distance over 26.2 miles I made sure to complete the first half with plenty of energy in reserve for the run back. With navigation under control and following with the plan I was able to finish the second half about 10 minutes faster than the first. No super human speed, that's for sure, but rather a consistent rhythm that got me home in time for Sunday football games. A great run and I look forward to more FKT attempts down the line!
