I really wanted this FKT, this is the oldest and first FKT in the British Virgin Islands. I was so stoked to head to the start line this morning and knew it was a big climb and felt like I had a chance of I stayed on the route and was able to handle the heat. We got a late start so didn’t get to the start line till 11:19am and the temps were 89° so not ideal. I would suggest starting early if possible. I headed out of the stairs and straight into the climb. It was pretty straightforward but I would suggest bringing the route on phone or watch as it gets tricky as you climb. You hit a few switch backs but once you are up you just keep climbing and then you hit the Hog Heaven restaurant. Turns out the owner was there as I ran through to the lookout and back out and he was like what the heck. I waved and headdd back down. I was up to top of climb in 20 mins or so and the. Got back down in 14 mins so very front heavy but super fun and all road so pretty fast. I wore Teva Aventrail R2T and they were pretty perfect for the terrain but road shoes could work also or even light trail shoes with minimal lugs. I should have taken some water but wanted to see if I could do it without and I did but having some water next time would have been smart. Watch for traffic as I almost ran into a few cars and some cows 😉…good luck
