Report

I had this attempt penciled in for today and was quite concerned with the weather forecast (highs of 35°C) so set off as early as I felt reasonable to get the family up to give me a lift to the start.

The recent dry weather played in my favour as the undergrowth had died back and most fields had been harvested (apart from the airfield behind Yeovilton, which neither had happened). By 0930 the heat was increasing and by the time I had got to Ilchester it was a bit intense, but my salomon agile 6 carrying 2.5l got me to Ham Hill.(see photo of my bag covered in salt stains)

I know most of the route pretty well, as it was my first long distance walk after my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award when I was younger. I walked it again recently with my eldest daughter for her training for her Bronze DofE. The route has changed slightly over the years and I think it would benefit from more way markers.
