I covered the New York section of the Appalachian Trail from the CT-NY border to the NY-NJ border (Southbound).
This was an unsupported effort, carrying everything with me from the start and only taking water from natural sources. My pack weighed 10.2 lbs at the start with nutrition and a liter of water.
Heading NoBo is likely a faster option since the trail gets progressively easier as you head north. About half of this effort was done by headlamp which certainly could be optimized by a summer attempt. Temps got down to just above freezing making for a slow cold night. Lots of time to improve this mark. Happy to give any insight into future attempters, feel free reach out.
Total time was 23:14:38 for a new overall speed record (any direction, any style)
