Attempted CCW from Milpitas after a failed attempt running CW from Fremont the previous week. I was not worried about getting under the current FKT, but really wanted to push to see if I could go under 7:50/mi pace or 8:00/mi pace, since I doubt I will do this full loop again.
Water fountains are spaced very conveniently if starting from McCarthy x Dixon Landing, about every 9 miles. Hardest part about this was having to run a reasonably quick pace while carrying all my calories. CCW is the right call since the wind is not too noticeable running the straightaway between Milpitas and Newark, whereas there is usually a consistent WNW breeze running from Palo Alto to Santa Clara on the bay trail.
Consumed 1600 calories, but my watch says I burned like 4000+ haha.
Note I did take a very small detour of ~1 mile around Shoreline where the bay trail is currently under construction, but there is no difference in total mileage with the deviation.
