The route is a little over 90km with a bit less than 4000m of elevation gain. Although it is mostly a "trail", there are many slower sections including talus fields in the alpine and blowdown and bush in the valley. Nonetheless, the route is likely in the best shape that it has been in for many years.
The route is point-to-point with no options to escape along the way. It is certainly a wilderness experience - the only other people I saw were my friends with whom I was swapping vehicles.
