Started just after 5:00 pm at the St. Mary’s Glacier trailhead. I had a Nathan handheld with Maurten Drink Mix 160 and 15 mins before ate a Maurten Caf 100 to get myself fired up after working a full day. Started out feeling strong and was navigating through the rocky trail well. It’s easy to get lost due to the number of trails in the beginning. I of course then got off trail for a few seconds but quickly corrected. My legs were already feeling it about 1.5 miles in, so much climbing! Cruised the flatter section while dodging lots of mud and eventually climbed hard for 2 miles before reaching the summit in 1:01:17. I took in the view for a few seconds and headed down. I felt good on the technical downhill and was able to open up a little on the flatter sections. Once I reached St. Mary’s Glacier there was a large group of skiers that saw me running down and began to cheer me on, that felt good. Made quick work of the rest of the descent for a round trip time of 1:35:49.
