The running part at the beginning was fun. I forded the river, as the tree crossing was slippery. The way up from the Foss River is, as always, rooty, rocky, and wet. Frost everywhere, and Emerald Lake was partly frozen.
The climb up to the La Bohn Lakes was as fun and scrambly as always, but I’d forgotten how long the approach to the summit was. Mostly followed cairns. I lost quite a bit of time getting to the summit because the ridge was sketchy with frost and the glacier was mostly poor ice, so I used rock-and-scree ledges and the moat to find a safe way through.
I had a bit of a mental block about descending to the Foss River, since that’s where I badly twisted my leg last time. I also stopped to forage for mushrooms (porcinis and chanterelles), so that added some time.
I expected to be much faster, and I’m sure it’s possible. I really had to work to get to the runnable sections and push myself to run some of the uphills, too. Anyway, it looks like a faster round than any of the results on Strava.
