Report

The full recap of my trip is linked here. I completed Cam Honan's original CBT route over 14 days from July 7 to July 20, 2026. Within the 14 days, I had 11 moving days and took 3 rest days. The first rest day occurred due to a stomach bug, and the second two rest days happened in Huaraz due to early stages trench foot. I resupplied every 2-3 days in towns accessible from the route itself or by hitchhiking from a road on the route. Water was plentiful and easy to source, but my filter froze overnight at one point, so switched from filtering to treating water with household bleach.

No one ran with me for any distance, though I fall into the Supported category because I accepted snacks from "trail angels" a couple times along the way. I completed the route without any technical gear and in trail running shoes, though I wouldn't consider the route entirely non-technical. In particular, I down-climbed one 80-100 foot section of 5th class rock at a 5000 meter mountain pass.
