First attempt at an FKT on the Sweet Trail in Durham, NH (Unsupported).
Overall, the trail was super runnable in its entirety, though there were progressively more rocks, roots, and overgrown vegetation further along the route.
Weather was ideal (around 60°F, clear, 75% humidity), and the trail was completely dry. I ran completely solo and unsupported, carrying ~0.75L of water and 1 Maurten 100 gel taken at the turnaround point.
Lost a bit of time—my shoes somehow came untied twice, and I took a brief wrong turn toward Jeff’s Hill on the return after getting distracted by a deer near the junction, though I immediately doubled back to the exact main trail intersection before resuming. I also went into the effort slightly fatigued from a 9k road race the day before.
Plenty of time left on the table for future attempts, but happy with a clean, hard effort!
