With 9 kg on our backs, we set off along the King's Trail from Abisko. It was a Wednesday morning and the trail was deserted. We jogged the first 38 km and then turned off the trail into a rocky valley. From the top of the first peak we could see the other 2000-meter peaks in the area. We made our way up and down valleys and then climbed Kaskasapakte and Kebnekaise. After that, a long and relatively flat stretch awaits us to the next mountain area. We took a break along a river and cooked and slept for a while. After 145 km and 39 hours we reached Ritsem. We were too late for any transport across the lake and had to wait until the next morning. We bought some extra food in the shop and got a pretty long sleep. The next morning there were no boats but the helicopter took us across the lake and we could start the day with the long hike up Áhkká. We were quite tired when we got down on the other side and it was slowly going away towards the Sarek massif. The weather now changed. In thick fog, wind and rain we crossed all the peaks of Sarek and made our way down to Smaila where we ate and slept for another hour. On Saturday morning we continued towards the last two peaks of Pårte and stood on the top of the last peak towards evening. The last kilometres of the route follow paths that become more and more trodden the closer you get to Kvikkjokk. However, it felt very long and tired we stumbled through the portal at the mountain station that marks the end of the adventure.
We carried everything we needed for the entire trip and only bought extra food on one occasion. We took the helicopter over Lake Akkajaure as this is the normal way for hikers to get across.
