New FKT “Stubaier Höhenweg”
On Saturday 12.08.2023 I achieved a personal project for this season with setting a new FKT on the “Stubaier Höhenweg”. This high trail has accompanied me since the beginning of my ultra career, when I supported Daniel during his record. Now as I call these trails my backyard in my home of choice, I wanted to measure myself against this time. My goal was primarily to do a last long run in preparation for this years UTMB – race pace without any final risk, with a strong focus on my nutrition strategy. Beyond that, I primarily wanted to spend a long day out alone where I like to be most: on technically challenging trails, in high alpine terrain.
Course: Neustift (church) - Starkenburger hut - Franz Senn hut - Neue Regensburger hut - Dresdner hut - Sulzenau hut - Nürnberger hut - Bremer hut - Innsbruck hut - Neustift church.
Nutrition test went really well. Tried out a few new things and felt way better then during the last competitions. Trying the project on a Saturday was probably not the best day due to some traffic along the track – at least I got some cheering. Weather was hot but slightly windy, some parts were slippery due to the rainy weather the days before. All in all good conditions. Thanks to Verena and her family for the support along the route - had an assistance point at Dresdner hut and Nürnberger hut and the warm welcome in the valley.
