We had an spectacular day running the point-to-point in the Olympic mountains from the Dosewallips River via Anderson Pass to Graves Creek. We started shortly after 7am on a frosty windy morning. The first 6 miles is a gradual incline on the old forest service that is no longer in use due to a washout years ago. So the trails is nice and wide. Stayed on the Dosewallips River trail by the ranger station. We were constantly distracted by all of the variety of mushrooms. We made mini  stops to take pictures. Shortly after passing by the ranger station we stayed left on the West Fork Dosewallips River Trail. Crossed the river on a slippery log crossing. We climbed all the way up to Anderson Pass junction. We took a side trip up to the summit of Anderson Pass. We took the East Fork Quinault River after coming back down from the summit. There was countless frozen creek crossing and blown down trees that slowed us down. We took a little break at the chalet at the Enchanted Valley to admire all the many water falls. The highlight on the final 13 miles to Graves Creek trailhead was seeing a huge herd of elk with two bulls with massive horns. We finished in the dark to a awaiting shuttle of our amazing friend Chuck Malinski and his daughter. We spent most of our day in the shade on a nice sunny day.
