Started at 7:30 at the Akamina trail head. Ran Akamina in 2:05:53, jogged down to Cameron Lake and waited 30 minutes for my Girlfriend to arrive to run with me for Carthew Alderson (we anticipated I would be much slower for Akamina but I decided to go for the CR after feeling good on the ridge). Ran Carthew Alderson trail in 2:12:09 which was a grind after Akamina. I then stoped at the house in town for an hour for some lunch while my watched charged. The Garmin 45 doesn't have the greatest battery life lol. I then walked over to the Prince of whales beach trail to swim across the narrows towards Vimy, which was probably at most 5ft deep (for early September) and 200m long if you took the right path. Then I bush whacked to the top of the hump towards the wishbone trail following a route a Parks Canada employee showed me. Wishbone was pretty bushy and hard to follow as well but it leads you directly to the Crypt Lake Trail head. I then left my bag at the dock and ran to Crypt Lake and back in 2:04:18. Had a ticket for a boat ride back after completing the whole thing, and the boat crew was kind enough to reimburse me after finding out all that I did that day! Overall time was 9 hours and 12 minutes, but moving time was around 7 hours and 20 minutes, although Strava didn't calculate that for me like it usually does. This was such an awesome day that took a lot of planning to do it unsupported. I was going to do it in a following year because I was nervous to do it mostly alone on a windy cloudy day, but I couldn't turn down the opportunity since I found some really good fitness this month. Very Thankful for Jaira Cross Child for joining me during Carthew Alderson. This was a scary, beautiful, and an overwhelmingly rewarding experience! Waterton will forever have my heart.
