Happened to be in the area for work, so I decided to give the route another go. I started from the north entrance clockwise at 1pm. The forecast was for clouds and a light breeze, but by the time I got to the trail section it was mostly sunny and quite warm. Everything went smoothly except for significant flooding by Dot Lake, and then a rattlesnake encounter on the descent into Ancient Lakes proper (where the campsites are). Thankfully I found a spot to cross without getting waist-deep in the water, and somehow managed to jump over the snake. Grateful to have carried an extra 1/2L of water because it was relatively hot by late afternoon. All in all it was a great run despite the challenges, and excellent race prep because of the challenges.
