Description

Originally part of the UltraPedestrian Wilderness Challenge. The Ancient Lakes "Touch All The Lakes" Challenge is a lake bagging challenge in the Quincy Lakes unit of the Columbia Basin Wildlife Area. The goal is to design your own route to touch all 20 of the named lakes in the Ancient Lakes area. These 20 named lakes are the four lakes which make up Ancient Lake, Judith Pool, H Lake, Stan Coffin Lake, Flat Lake, Quincy Lake, Burke Lake, Evergreen Reservoir, Cree Lake, Dot Lake, Crystal Lake, the two Spring Lakes, Cup Lake, Cascade Lake, Cliff Lake, and Dusty Lake. This is a car-to-car challenge. It doesn't matter where you start but you must return to that location.

Caltopo map of the 20 lakes is here: https://caltopo.com/m/C5AP

And more information and beta is available on the UPWC Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/UPWildernessChallenge

The Ancient Lakes area is full of amazing geology, lakes, and waterfalls with numerous trails throughout the area. This challenge allows for route finding and potential off-trail travel to touch all the lakes, including crossing creeks and lakes, if desired. Previous attempts have ranged from 11.3 miles to over 19 miles. From Facebook and Strava, current Men's FKT is likely Eric Bone with 2:39, women's team: 7:43 (Imei Hsu and Rosie Sgrosso) and mixed gender team is 9:58 (Matt Olsen, Damien Hermens, Christie Zappalo, and Shelly Rae Mann).
