Originally planned to do my first trail ultra this year, Grizzly 50k. When it got cancelled due to COVID-19, our run club decided to host a virtual ultra, including the 42k loop around Rundle Mountain, followed by 8k of trails around Canmore Nordic Center. Then another Ultra opened for registration, Sinister S3 in late October, and figured a fast effort around rundle would serve as a great fitness tester before the race. Tacked the extra kms after with teammates, to complete the full 50k.

Ally Johnson met me at the top of Gap climb with my water. She accompanied me on MTB until the start of Riverside trail, where Jody Draude supported me, on foot, back to Canmore Nordic Center.
Both Ally and Jody helped by carrying excess gear when it warmed up, provided drinks and gels.
I carried bear spray, almonds, and a hand bottle with mix for the 2nd half.
