A clockwise, unsupported round on a dry, but cold, winter's day. Low cloud hung over the hills and the trees and bushes on the tops were frozen stiff with ice - quite spectacular. Plenty of mud all the way round - particularly deep and swampy around Solsbury and Englishcombe. The main paths were busy with walkers so the mud here was slick and greasy for running on, especially uphill. Didn't set out with an FKT in mind, but held the effort from Bathampton Down when I looked at the watch. Fuelled with water and mars bars which I carried myself (the bars froze quite early on!). I was keen to try out some variations on other routes I'd seen, so perhaps not a 'purist's' route, but I like the freedom the Round provides to set your own route. Feet were very cold by the finish and I look forward to returning in balmier conditions!
