On September 7th, 2020 I ran up to the summit of Mt Thielsen and back in 2:47:53, setting a new roundtrip FKT.
It was extremely smokey on my drive down through Bend, but luckily the morning brought fairly clear skies and a fair breeze. It being my first time doing the route, I felt a bit slow navigating my way to the summit pinnacle. But boy what a fun little scramble to some sweet views and a steep drop on the north side! Unfortunately I took a fall along the ridge on the descent and rolled my ankle pretty hard. That made for an interesting last 3 miles on the trail, but I was thankful I was at least still able to run on it.
I gave it all I could for what I had today, but I'll definitely be back to give it another go.
